a girl and her cat (and some cameras)

I like taking pictures and have wasted many hours cooing at my cat.

I make video games and websites for a living and enjoy live music, photography, roadtrips, Helvetica Neue, and good folks to talk to. I waste my time playing Pokemon. You wish you were as cool as me.

Anonymous asked: Hello! I love your photos :) I was wondering what camera/lens you used to take those pictures at the salty pig (or just in general)? That one especially of the charcuterie is gorgeous..

My camera’s kinda old, using the Canon Rebel XTi (and it’s definitely showing its age: only ISO 1600!).

All the photos from Boston this time around are using the kit lens. I use to take pictures w/ the 50mm f/1.8 but…I actually broke it by accident… (◡////◡);

I think I want to get the 28mm f/2.8 as a replacement since it seems way more versatile than the 50mm! (My camera body has a 1.6x crop factor so the 50mm turns into more like an 80mm lens on 35mm camera aka LET ME PLEASE STAND UP AWAY FROM THE TABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH THIS FOOD.) SO EXPENSIVE THOUGH. (ㅜ_ㅜ)

Also, never forget the power of RAW file type + post-processing. (¬‿¬) Pho! To! Shop!

Day 2 in Boston:

The snow had stopped, but the walk was still freezing and slushy as we made our way to The Salty Pig. I really wanted to try their cocktails, but between brunch & beer, I wasn’t ready for food AND drinks. Both things we ordered were delicious.

Charcuterie plate: finocchiona, a dry cured garlic & fennel sausage from Zoe’s in CA; bjiou, a young goat cheese that’s soft enough to spread but not lose shape like brie.

The Salty Pig Pizza aka “today’s salty pig parts”, mustard, pale ale vinaigrette, and (unlisted in the menu) arugula. Never thought mustard on pizza would be good but it SO WAS. Paired perfectly with the salty pig parts. We had leftovers of this (and leftover pasta) for brunch the next day & it was still so good.

Day 2 in Boston:

We couldn’t finish our alcohol, because we were still too full from brunch. We made our way over to the Museum of Science and watched a show at the planetarium. It was a little visit back into childhood! The sound staircase was cool, and so was the beehive looking display that was made just using polarizer filters and cellophane!

Bing and I both think that there should be a Super Nerdy Science Showing in the planetarium for adults not in the sciences but want to hear more in depth & science-y things. Also we want those planetarium seats in our homes because AHHHH SO COMFY.

Day 2 of Boston:

@cherrylet & I braved the snow and wind to make our way to Harpoon Brewery…where we were told the brewery tour was booked until 6pm?! WHO GOES TO A BREWERY WHEN THE WEATHER IS TERRIB— oh wait. ._.

Day 2 cultivating my food baby in Boston:

Saturday brunch at Mistral. I normally don’t like sweets for breakfast/brunch but I had to try their pancake. @cherrylet’s salmon benedict was perfect.

Fried mozzarella, tuna and swordfish fettuccine in pesto cream sauce, and pappardelle with lobster and aspragaus @ Giacomo’s in the North End. @untaken was SUCH A TROOPER and patiently waited with me outside in the cold for over an hour to get seated. I’m tenacious to a fault when I’ve set my sight on a particular restaurant and will basically wait until the end of time, but I never expect friends to share the same obstinacy. ㅜㅜ Needless to say, we devoured our food pretty quickly. HOUSE-MADE PASTA, THOUGH. I never tire of it.

I didn’t bring my camera to Giacomo’s but aaaaaaah best pasta everrrrr. :9 Despite Boston being FREEZING and snowing, this trip to Beantown was far superior to any previous trips taken with les parentals.

Using @zoyanailpolish Caitlin , @butterlondon Bossy Boots & Teddy Girl, Orly Etoile, Milani White Canvas, & a really old Maybelline Bitten Plum.

Ugh I wish my phone took better pictures.

I knew I would like the sea salt, but the more I eat the lime #chocolate from @chocolatmoderne, the more I like it. My coworkers like it too!
